How to install in Grok Bot

Grok Bot is a desktop app. Each bot has a name, a description, and an avatar. You get a SKILL.md character file, an install guide, a short license, and whatever portrait art exists. The steps below use labels from the Grok Bot docs. They do not invent a menu those docs do not name.

  1. Choose New in the sidebar, or press Cmd/Ctrl+N. In New chat, select Create new Bot.
  2. Open the Bot menu and choose Edit Profile.
  3. Set the name. Paste the CORE block, the part between the CORE markers in SKILL.md, into the description. That description is the persona.
  4. Set the avatar to the portrait in the pack. That picture is the character emoji.
  5. Save SKILL.md as a skill. The docs do not name a file-import control. Attach or paste SKILL.md in the conversation and ask the bot to save it as a skill. Type / in the composer to use it. If it is missing, open Connect apps, then Your plugins, then Manage plugins and skills, and look under Private skills.

The same name, description, and avatar fields are also under View conversation details, then Bot settings. Do not upload a voice clone. The profile docs do not name a voice picker.

The same file works in ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. Those installs are not the launch path. Each character's install guide has the later notes: a custom GPT or Project, a Claude Project, or a Gemini Gem. Paste the same CORE block, and keep SKILL.md as the knowledge or skill file.

Memory

Each character asks you to paste a LEGENDARY MEMORY block at the start and gives you an updated one at the end. You keep it. It is shared across characters, capped around 1,500 characters, and never stored by Legendary Bots.

What the file is not

It is not the historical person, not an endorsement, and not professional advice. Finance, legal, medical, and engineering questions in the skills stay at the level of general education.
